Kariba tethers the Dirty COW

This week the Kariba hosting team have been busy patching a critical Linux vulnerability branded Dirty COW.

The name comes from the fact that the vunerability, referred technically as CVE-2016-5195, exploits a mechanism called 'copy-on-write' and is known as a privilege escalation bug. It means that if attackers managed to get a foot inside our server system they could use Dirty Cow to take control.
The good news for Kariba hosting customers is that we patched our Linux servers early in the morning on Wednesday to avoid as little downtime as possible and all systems are safe and secure.
